There have been a few different dog pets since pets were introduced to Grow A Garden Pet Update, back in May. They started with the Dog and Golden Lab pets, when the Pet Update dropped, and we also got the Shiba Inu pet in the Zen update.
All three of the dog pets have the same ability, in that they can dig up random seeds at different intervals, but the new Grow A Garden Bone Dog does the ability, plus something kinda cool…

The Grow A Garden Halloween update launched with a brand new egg; the Spooky Egg.
You get the Spooky Egg using the Candy Corn currency, which you earn by either filling up the Witches’ Cauldron every 2 minutes, or by handing Halloween fruits to the Ancient Jack-O-Lantern.
With the Candy Corns, you can purchase items from the Creepy Critters stall, Spooky Seeds stall, and the Decor stall. If you want the Spooky Egg, you get that from the Creepy Critters stall, and it is always in stock in between 1 to 3 eggs.
Here are the Spooky Egg pets, you can hatch:
- Bat – 45% chance
- Bone Dog – 28% chance
- Spider – 18% chance
- Black Cat – 8.5% chance
- Headless Horseman – 0.5% chance

The Bone Dog has the same basic design as the Golden Lab pet and Dog pet. With floppy ears and a darker patch over one eye.
Except, it has a “bone” design, to look a skeleton, and it looks so cute. The tail is fragmented like a skeleton too, it kinda reminds me of the dog in FunnyBones – I don’t know if you ever watched that TV program, or read that book as a kid, but it is really cute.
It also reminds me of the villager “Bones” in Animal Crossing, which is one of my fav games. It has a different walk to the Golden Lab or Dog pet too.

What Does The Grow A Garden Bone Dog Pet Do?
Every 77.18 seconds, there’s a 15.14% chance to dig up a random seed.
What the description doesn’t tell you, is that the Bone Dog has a chance to dig up a special seed that you can only get from having the Bone Dog.
The “exclusive” Bone Dog seed is the Banesbury Seed, and it can dig it up at random, so the best thing to do, is to equip an army of Bone Dogs, and leave them overnight, making sure you’re standing in your garden, so the dug-up seeds can float their way to your avatar.
I think it’s really cool that they gave such a common pet, a cool ability, in that it can get you an exclusive Halloween seed you simply cannot buy or acquire in any way.
You’re going to want one of these seeds, so you can check it off in your index within your Garden Guide, so make sure you get your hands on at least one Bone Dog, while the Halloween update is here, so you can get the seed, and potentially other OP seeds from the Seed Shop.
