I personally think the Bug Egg is the best pet egg in the entire Grow A Garden game. Every single pet inside the Bug Eggs are amazing, with actually helpful benefits.
While the Bug Eggs are insanely rare, make sure you always purchase one whenever you see one in stock. Keep on reading to find out all about the praying mantis pet, and find out why it’s a top tier pet…

What Is The Grow A Garden Praying Mantis Pet?
The Bug Egg is the most expensive Grow A Garden egg, with each egg costing 50,000,000 (fifty million sheckles).
I love the Bug Egg design so much. They’re a luminous green and yellow, with glowing neon accents, and insect wings on the sides of the egg. They look so cool, especially when it’s nighttime, as the neon elements glow so much.
There are five insects you get inside the bug eggs, and they are the following
- Snail (brown) 40%
- Giant Ant (grey) 30%
- Caterpillar (green) 25%
- Praying Mantis (green) 4%
- Dragonfly (beige and brown) 1%
The praying mantis pet has a percentage chance of just 4%, and it took me such a long time to hatch one. I actually hatched my dragonfly before I hatched the praying mantis, and I was beyond happy to finally get my hands on the praying mantis, as it’s a top tier pet.
It has such a fun design, with a bright green color, and it does a “praying” animation, which I’ll explain more in the next section, but when it does do its praying, little stars appear while it has its arms in the air – it’s so cute.

What Does The Growing Garden Praying Mantis Pet Do?
The praying mantis pet gives you a really decent benefit. Every 79:49 seconds, it prays for 10.17 seconds, which will grant a 1.51x variant chance within 10.17 studs (within the green circle that surrounds the pet while it “prays”).
There’s a hack, where some people follow the praying mantis around, and hold a plant with the trowel, and then place it down within the green circle, once the praying mantis starts to pray, to influence which specific plants will enjoy the 1.51x variant chance.
With the variant chance, you could get huge fruits, gold fruits or rainbow fruits, so it’s a pretty decent benefit. Especially if you combine it with the Moon Cat, and you’re moving moon themed fruit, so both pets can influence the size and variants of said fruit.
It’s a really good pet to have, and I think the other bug egg pets are amazing too, even the snail – so if you see the bug egg in stock, snap one up!
