Have you seen the Monkey pet in Grow A Garden, and wanted to know what it does, and how it compares to the Silver Monkey?
I’m going to share the benefits of owning a monkey pet, and letting you know if it’s a worthwhile pet to own in your garden. Keep on reading to find out all about the monkey pet…

What Is The Grow A Garden Monkey Pet?
We have two monkey pets within Grow A Garden, with the standard monkey pet (which is this monkey), and there’s also the silver monkey pet.
The monkey is a pet you can hatch out of the Rare Eggs, and each Rare Egg will cost you 600,000 sheckles. Each rare egg is a bright royal blue color, and you’ll hatch one of these five “rare” pets:
- Orange Tabby (cat) 33.33%
- Spotted Deer (brown with white spots) 25%
- Pig (pink) 16.67%
- Rooster (yellow) 16.67%
- Monkey (brown) 8.33%
The monkey pet is the rarest pet to get within the Rare Eggs, and I have actually only ever hatched one monkey, even though I have hatched a massive amount of Rare Eggs. It is usually the spotted deer or orange tabby, in my experience.
The monkey is a cute dark brown and beige monkey with beige feet and a smiley face.

What Does The Grow A Garden Monkey Pet Do?
The standard monkey pet gives you a 2.54% chance to refund fruit back to your inventory. Rarer plants have lower chance to refund.
With the silver monkey, it’ll give you an 8% chance that it’ll refund crops back to your inventory when trying to sell them.
It’s helpful when you’re selling mutated fruit, so if I have an inventory of really good fruits/crops with multiple mutations, I equip the monkey in the garden for a couple of minutes, while selling my harvest, and then pick it up again, as there’s no passive benefit for having the monkey in the garden.
So, the silver monkey is an insane upgrade on the standard monkey. The difference between the standard monkey with a 2.54% chance, and the silver monkey with an 8% chance is kinda insane.

If you have a silver monkey, get your ordinary monkey sold, as it’s just not worthwhile having, if you have the more elite version.
With the monkey (and silver monkey), you sell your crops as normal, but you get pop-up notifications to say they couldn’t sell XYZ crop, and it has gone back in your inventory, so you just resell your inventory again, and get paid twice for the same item/s.
I do think the monkey has a cute design, and I like how it crawls through your garden, but it’s no contest on which is better – the silver monkey is a massively more beneficial pet to own.
