When the Blood Moon event launched on May 17th, it came with a Blood Moon Shop, which included a whole host of items we can purchase with sheckles.
The most exciting items in the shop, are the three brand-new blood themed pets, one of which was the Blood Kiwi. Keep on reading to find out all about this limited edition pet…
How Can You Get The Grow A Garden Blood Kiwi?
As I mentioned above, the Blood Moon Shop includes three super limited edition pets, which aren’t pets you’ll find in eggs.
You purchase them as pets within the Blood Moon Shop, and that is only available when it’s a blood moon, during the on the hour night events, and the blood moon event is hard to get, as it only happens 33% of the time.
When it’s not a blood moon event, it’s a twilight event, with the twilight shop.
In the blood moon shop, you can purchase the blood owl, the blood hedgehog and the blood kiwi with sheckles.
When it comes to availability, you are more likely to see the blood kiwi and blood hedgehog in stock, rather than the blood owl, as the blood owl is the rarest pet from the three blood themed pets.
As it’s not an egg pet, you can purchase the Blood Kiwi (if you ever find it in stock) for 20,000,000 (twenty million sheckles), and it’s the cheapest pet from the blood moon trio, as the blood hedgehog is 23,000,000 and the blood owl is 60,000,000.
For the blood kiwi design, it has a reddy brown body, browny orange feet and long beak, plus glowing red eyes. I really like the design, as it somehow looks cuter than the standard kiwi.
What Are The Benefits Of The Grow A Garden Blood Kiwi?
Both versions of the kiwi within Grow A Garden will help you if you purchase the in-game eggs.
The standard version of the kiwi, every 60 seconds, runs over to an unhatched egg you have, sits on it, sings and then quickens the egg hatching time by 25 seconds.
However, the blood kiwi offers a mega upgrade on the 25 seconds quickening, and I’ve since sold my regular kiwis, and upgraded to the blood kiwis, as they’re so much better.
Every 60 seconds, it does the same as the original kiwi, and sits on the egg, but this version of the kiwi quickens the hatching time by 45 seconds (instead of 25 seconds for the normal kiwi).
It makes such a big difference, especially on the pricier and rarer eggs, like the Bug Egg, Legendary Egg and Mythical Egg.
If you have one unhatched egg, over one hour of game play, you’ll have sped up your egg’s hatching time by 15 minutes.
The only downside is because the blood kiwi quickens the egg every 60 seconds, you get the audible “ping” noise, if you play Grow A Garden with sound, every 60 seconds.
I love playing the game with sound, so I don’t miss the restock notifications, but I do wish we could choose which sounds we hear, as it gets so repetitive, and I don’t want to turn the sound off entirely.
I absolutely love hatching eggs, so to me, the blood kiwi is an essential pet to own, for this reason.
I’ve unlocked extra egg slots by trading in pets, so I can have five eggs at one time, and when I do have the max eggs hatching, I tend to equip multiple blood kiwis, so they can go all out on quickening the hatching times, and it makes it so much quicker – especially on the bug eggs, which take the longest time to hatch.
