Grow A Garden NEW Cooking & Trading Update Revealed! [Spoilers]

Ever since Grow A Garden launched back in March (crazy that the game is only four months old), players have been begging Jandel and the Grow A Garden team to introduce trading.

If you are in the Grow A Garden Discord or Subreddit, you’ll read hundreds and hundreds of posts and comments every single day about being people scammed.

People get scammed for their pets, and their accounts, as there isn’t anything to protect players when trading pets, but for Saturday, we’re getting two updates in one; the Grow A Garden Cooking Update and Trading Update combined.

As well as announcing trading, Jandel has also announced that going forward, we’re going to get the option to “vote” for upcoming updates.

Jandel is going to ask players for update suggestions, and from the suggestions, he’ll give us two update ideas, and we’ll be able to vote from those ideas. The two ideas for this week’s event were:

• Beanstalk Event
• Cooking Event

The votes were 66% for the Cooking Event and 34% for the Beanstalk Event, so it’s official that the Cooking Event is going to be this week’s update, alongside the new Trading Update.

What Is The Grow A Garden Cooking Event?

Here is the official announcement from DJ Jhai for this week’s update:

“THIS WEEKEND

Trading & Cooking Event! 🔁🧑‍🍳

Trading is here bringing a new way to exchange, collect, & play! There is also a brand new cooking event that introduces new seeds, pets, weather, & more!“

When Jandel asked the Discord to vote between the Beanstalk Event and the Cooking Event, this was the description he gave to encourage players to vote for their favorite:

“A cooking pot is in the middle of the map, add different fruits and vegetables to the pot to cook different quality foods. Discovering better recipes will satisfy the pig who will give better rewards depending on the meal you have made him.“

So, we are going to need to utilize our save slot garden for this event, to grow a bunch of the seed shop seeds, so we have all the ingredients the pig is going to ask for.

I would recommend on Saturday morning, before the update drops, planting at least one of every seed in the seed shop, so you have the plants fully grown once the update actually launches.

You don’t want to waste time waiting for every seed to grow once the update is here, so get planting one pepper, one cacao, one coconut, one beanstalk etc, so if the pig asks for any one of these fruits, you can instantly give it to him, to get the rewards straight away.

I think this event is going to be an identical game mechanic to the Bizzy Bee Quest, where the Bizzy Bee also had a cooking hat, and he asked for specific items, and he then “cooked” up rewards:

• Flower Seed Pack
• Honey Crafter’s Crate
• Nectar Staff
• Manuka Flower Seeds
• Anti Bee Eggs
• Dandelion Seeds
• Lumira Seeds
• Honeysuckle Seeds

There were 30 recipes we had to complete to finish the Bizzy Bee Bear’s quest, and I think we’ll have something very similar, if not the same, for the Cooking Event.

What Are We Getting In The Grow A Garden Cooking Event Update?

The first big spoiler in the Cooking Event update, is the introduction of trading.

We will now be able to trade pets, fruit and sheckles. We will not be able to trade seeds, gear, seed packs, eggs or cosmetic items (read more on that here).

Here is a look at the official trading screen, and you can see a menu where you can select which pets, fruits and sheckle amount you want to trade, and the other player will do the same.

You can clearly see the age, value and weight of the pets and fruits, so you know what you’re agreeing to, and there’s a double-approval screen, so both parties can be sure they’re getting what they want from the trade.

We are going to have an item called the Trading Ticket.

It’s likely that this is going to be a gear item, we can purchase from the Gear Shop, because there’s going to be a “gift” option, so that means it’s either going in the Gear Shop, or in the “Shop”, but there has to be a “free” option, so it’s almost guaranteed that it’ll be a Gear Shop item.

It sucks that we’re going to need a Trading Ticket to do a trade. I think it’s possibly to stop bots and scammers from mass trading the glitched and duped pets.
