The Grow A Garden Trading feature is finally coming to the game, as part of this Saturday’s Cooking and Trading Update.
We have been begging for trading to be an official feature for months now, to reduce the risk of scams, and protect Grow A Garden players.
Jandel confirmed it took a lot of work to do behind the scenes, as they had to rewrite their backend data to allow trading to happen, and finally, it’s coming in less than 48 hours.

On Saturday, the new Cooking Update is going to drop, and this update was one that was voted by members of the official Grow A Garden Discord.
We were given the option to vote for either the Beanstalk Event or the Cooking Event, and the Cooking Event won with 66% of the votes.
I personally am more excited about the trading update over the cooking update, but there is one question we all have, and that is, can we trade seeds in the Grow A Garden trading update?

The answer to that is a super, super disappointing no. It has been officially confirmed (by a YouTuber that tested the update in the official test server) that we will not be able to trade seeds, and we will not be able to trade gear.
All you can trade is pets, sheckles and fruits. So, it is pretty much guaranteed we will not be able to trade eggs, crates, chests, seed packs or cosmetic items, which is beyond gutting.
Seed trading is the one thing I hoped for the most, so I could get the seeds I missed out on, from past events, but we will not be able to trade any seeds whatsoever, once trading launches.

From a Grow A Garden dev team standpoint, I do kinda get why they are not letting us trade seeds. They want us to participate in the limited time events, like the Bee Update, Bizzy Bee Update, Prehistoric Update and Zen Update, so people grind for the limited time seeds.
If people can just trade seeds, like the Sunflower, Dragon Pepper, Elephant Ears, Fossilight and Maple Apple, it will make people less inclined to grind, and put their time into the game, and the developers obviously want people to spend as much time in the game as possible.

From a player’s standpoint, it’s really disappointing, as the game is Grow A Garden, and in the last 6 weeks or so, the game has become almost entirely pet focused. Don’t get me wrong, I love the pets, and new pets are always fun, but we should be able to trade items to “Grow A Garden”.
Maybe it’ll be something they implement in the future, but it’ll be interesting to see how the lack of seed trading will be received by the community, once the update drops on Saturday. I’m still happy I can trade pets safely (finally), and we’ll be able to trade just fruit and pets on Saturday.
