The Grow A Garden Dragonfly pet is definitely the most sought after pet in the entire game.
If you’re a member of the Grow A Garden Discord, you’ll see endless flooding of message of people wanting to trade for a dragonfly, and people even offer real life money, as it’s such a valuable pet within the game.
I didn’t think I’d ever get a dragonfly, but now I have one, I’m going to give you the full low-down on the dragonfly, and tell you if it’s worth the hype.

How Do You Get The Grow A Garden Dragonfly Pet?
There is only one way you get the dragonfly, and that is via the Bug Egg.
The Bug Eggs are the rarest eggs to find in the game, and are categorized as being “Divine” in terms of rareness, and it costs 50,000,000 (fifty million sheckles) per egg.
Inside the Bug Eggs, you can get any of the following pets:
- Snail – 40% chance
- Giant Ant – 30% chance
- Caterpillar – 25% chance
- Praying Mantis – 4% chance
- Dragonfly – 1% chance
I love the design on the bug eggs, they really do look amazing. They have a yellow and green color design, with a neon cross on the front, and protruding glowing green and yellow wings.
The other eggs look so plain and basic, in comparison, but they really do look amazing.
I honestly couldn’t tell you how many snails I’ve had from these eggs. I have purchased the Bug Eggs both with sheckles (in-game currency) and with Robux, and I got my dragonfly in an in-game currency egg, which surprised me greatly.

What Is The Grow A Garden Dragonfly Pet?
The dragonfly has a yellow and gold design, with neon yellow accents like the eyes, the edges of the wings, the ends of the legs and the tip of its tail.
It’s the coolest pet in terms of design, because it actually flies around your entire garden. The owls kinda flutter off the ground from time to time, but the dragonfly actually flies, and sometimes it pauses mid-air and twitches its legs around.
When it’s “night” within the game, the glowing elements look awesome, and I would love more flying pets within the game.

What Are The Benefits Of Owning The Grow A Garden Dragonfly?
There’s a reason the dragonfly is so sought after. Obviously, you have the scarcity factor, where it’s so unbelievably rare, everyone wants to own it.
However, the dragonfly offers the best benefit of any pet within the game.
Every 4:45 minutes, the dragonfly turns a random fruit to gold.
Once the dragonfly has turned one of your fruits to gold, you get a notification on the screen which reads:
“Dragonfly applied variant: grape to gold” – letting you know which fruit type it turned gold, and you then just have to track down that fruit to get it favorited, so you can collect the other variants on it, like shocked (hit by lightning) and celestial (hit by shooting stars).
You have absolutely no control on which fruit the dragonfly will convert to gold, but I would recommend getting rid of tiny fruits in your garden, like moonflowers and glowshrooms, as you’d rather the conversion was done on larger fruit, to get a better return.
Grow A Garden Dragonfly Gold Multiplier
For every fruit your dragonfly converts into gold, that fruit will gain a x20 multiplier.
Whenever my dragonfly turns a fruit gold, I instantly favorite it, and wait until said fruit as collected the other mutations in game; disco, celestial, shocked, choc, bloodlit, moonlit, plasma.
As your fruit will become more and more valuable, the more mutations it gets, as each mutation adds an extra multiplier, for the best return.
I find that mangos are the most common for the dragonfly to convert into gold, but I’ve had great success with mushrooms, and that’s an amazing money earner, as they already have a good market value without mutations.
I currently have a giant mushroom which was shocked, bloodlit, moonlit and celestial, and just today, the dragonfly turned it gold. I’m excited to see what it sells for, as it will be at least a billion, as it’s huge.
While the dragonfly is super hyped, I genuinely believe it is worthy of the hype, as it converts something to gold every 4.45 minutes, so that’s 13 gold fruit for every single hour you play, and that’s going to earn you a fortune in sheckles.
