The newest Grow A Garden update is the new Alien Invasion update, which dropped today. Grow A Garden fans have been begging for an alien themed update for months and months, with amazing ideas within the official Grow A Garden’s Discord server, but it’s a pretty tiny update yet again.

The Alien Invasion update launched today, replacing the two-week Valentine’s update. The event display is now a green circle on the ground, with a black ring around it, with a creepy dancing “alien” on the circle, with a floating UFO above its head.
With this update, every hour, on the hour, for ten minutes, “alien chaos” begins, with the UFO from the center event display circulating the server for the full ten minutes.
During those ten minutes, any pets in your garden that don’t have any mutation, can be mutated with the brand new “Alienated” mutation.
If your pets have any mutation whatsoever, they will not be able to catch the Alienated mutation, so make sure your pets are all free from mutations, and placed in your garden.

I have done the event twice, over two hours, so I could test it out to see how it works. During each Alien Chaos event, I had 8 non-mutated pets in my garden, and both times, only one pet got mutated with the Alienated mutation.
I did the event in a public server, and in a private server, to see if that affected the mutations, as more players in a server means more pets, so maybe you need to use a private server to get more Alienated mutations.
After trying both methods, it made no difference – only one pet got mutated each time, so just two Alienated pets over two hours.

How To Do The Grow A Garden Alien Invasion Update
The dancing alien in the middle of the map needs you to submit 10 pets with the Alienated mutation. You can only get the Alienated mutation via the Alien Chaos event, at the top of the hour, and after testing over two hours, only one pet per hour got mutated, so you’re looking at 10 hours of playtime to get the 10 Alienated pets.
Once you hand over the 10 Alienated pets to the Alien, he will give you 1 x UFO Pet Mutation Shard, and will take those 10 pets out of your inventory.
You can purchase the UFO Pet Mutation Shards from the Shop icon, on the left of your screen, but you can only use Robux to purchase them and not Trade Tokens, which is disappointing.
It costs 1399 Robux for 10 x UFO Pet Mutation Shards, which is expensive, but, if your compare it to the price of 1 x Hyper Hunger Shard, during the Christmas Harvest event, it cost 519 Robux for one shard, if you didn’t use in-game currency.

The first of my two Alienated pets was this Robin. The ability with the Alienated mutation is:
“SMALL boost to passive but drains 0.07% XP per second”
With this Robin, at age 4 and weight 3.30kg, without the Alienated mutation, the ability would be:
“Grants 12.59% decreased player size!”
With the same Robin, the same age and weight 3.30kg, with the Alienated mutation, its ability is:
“Grants 13.33% decreased player size!”

So, by having the Alienated mutation, you get a 0.74% increase in the ability, which is beyond terrible, but the whole point of this event, is not to keep your pets with the Alienated mutation, as you need to hand in 10 x Alienated pets for 1 x UFO pet shard.

Here is my second Alienated pet, which was a Spider, and this Spider with a weight of 3.13kg and age 5, the ability is:
“Every 7:53m, weaves a 18.53 stud web that lasts for 10.29s. Pets on the web advance cooldown an extra 1.03s every second & plants grow an additional 15.44s every second!”
This Spider, with the same age and weight, and the Alienated mutation, the ability is:
“Every 5:26m, weaves a 18.53 stud web that lasts for 23.96s. Pets on the web advance cooldown an extra 1.33s every second & plants grow an additional 19.97s every second!”

There’s a much bigger and noticeable difference between Alienated Spider vs Non-Alienated Spider, whereas the difference between the two Robins was negligible.
I don’t have a UFO Pet Shard yet, but it supposedly gives your pet’s ability a 30% boost, like Venom, with the same ability in that it will drain your pet’s XP, whilst your pet is under age 100.
I did test to see if you would get more Alienated pets without using Pancake Stacks and Magnetic Horseshoes, to see if the floating UFO would mutated more pets with the Alienated mutation, but it doesn’t unfortunately, it was still one single pet both times.
There are no other rewards or benefits of doing this event. There is a new seed in the Seed Shop, but that’s it, that’s the entire event.
