This weekend’s Grow A Garden update has been officially announced, and it’s the Grow A Garden Kitchen Storm Update.
Last Saturday, the Cooking Event update dropped, and in my opinion, it was the most disappointing and underwhelming update since the game first launched back in March, so we have high hopes that this week’s update is going to make the cooking event a lot better than it currently is.

For the Cooking Event update last weekend, we got the trading feature we’ve all wanted for the longest time, as well as a cooking event on the event display.
The Cooking Event replaced the Zen/Corrupted update, and it involved a pig that has a different “craving” every hour.
We have to “cook” the craving for the pig, by adding ingredients into the cooking pot, and wait for the recipe to cook, and once it’s finished, we then feed it to the pig, in exchange for rewards.
There is nothing within the game to tell you which ingredients you need for each recipe, which is crazy, as you have to search online to find the specific ingredients you need for each recipe.
Each recipe is graded between uncommon, rare, legendary, mythical, divine and prismatic, and the larger the ingredients you use, and the rarer the ingredients you use, the better the rewards.
However, that’s not always the case. You can give the pig the biggest bone blossoms and sugar apples, and end up with a couple of Advanced Sprinklers, and, in all honesty, it sucks, especially when you’ve waited 55 minutes for the recipe to cook. So, I have high hopes that this coming update is going to massively improve the cooking event…

Here is the DJ Jhai official announcement for the Grow A Garden Kitchen Storm Event:
“THIS WEEKEND
Kitchen Storm Event! 🧑🍳🍳⛈️
An expansion of the cooking event with higher stakes and more rewards… Explore, participate, and unlock brand new seeds, pets, features, admin weather, & more!”
The name of this event is “Kitchen Storm” and they’ve used a storm cloud emoji, so I think this update is going to be tied into weather events.
The biggest criticism I’ve seen in Discord and Reddit, apart from the terrible rewards, is the amount of waiting around we have to do between recipes.
You can’t grind the event like you can with other events, so I wonder if we’ll get hourly weather events, which will quicken the cooking time (like the Working Bee Swarm event which gave us 3x crafting speed).
The photo they used to promote this event is exactly the same as what we have now – the same pig, the same booth the pig is sitting in front of, the same cooking pot, and same striped floor. It doesn’t give us any clues as to what this week’s update will include.
The description, however, does confirm that we’re going to be getting:
- new seeds
- new pets
- new items
- new admin weather
- & more
It’ll be interesting to see how they’re going to expand this event, and hopefully improve it, as it really does need to be improved.
Getting just sprinklers and a reclaimer when you’ve given billions of sheckles worth of fruit is beyond infuriating, and nobody wants 23 pretzel carts, so hopefully the rewards will be worthy of the effort and size of the fruits we add to the cooking pot.
I’ll update this post whenever more information is shared…
