If I had to pick one favorite pet from the Grow A Garden summer event, it would definitely be the seal.
The seal is the rarest pet inside the Rare Summer Egg, but it offers you an ability that’s unlike anything else in the game, and it can give you eggs for absolutely free. Keep on reading to find out more…
What Is The Grow A Garden Seal Pet?
The seal is one of five pets you can potentially hatch when you purchase a Rare Summer Egg.
The rare summer egg is also one of the prizes you can win, when you participate in the Grow A Garden hourly harvest events, which is another way you can get your hands on one.
Whenever the Pet Egg Shop restocks, there is a 17% chance that a Rare Summer Egg will appear, making it more common than the Summer Paradise Egg, which is 7%, and the Common Summer Egg has a 35% chance.
Inside the Rare Summer Egg, you will hatch one of these five pets:
- Flamingo – 30% chance
- Toucan – 25% chance
- Sea Turtle – 20% chance
- Orangutan – 15% chance
- Seal – 10% chance
The seal is the rarest, but it’s a 10% chance, so it’s not super rare, like the Mimic Octopus would be.
It has quite a simple design compared to the other pets inside the summer eggs, with a gray color, fins and tail, and it crawls along the floor within your garden.
It doesn’t really have anything fun about the design, and there’s no animation, it just crawls everywhere, but it is cute.
What Does The Grow A Garden Seal Pet Actually Do?
OK, so what does the seal do? It doesn’t offer an active benefit, but it’s a benefit you’re going to love, if you love buying the pet eggs, like me.
When you have one seal equipped in your garden, there’s a 2.25% chance that, when you’re selling your pet (at the Sell Stand or the Pet Shop), you’ll get the pet back as it’s egg equivalent.
So, for example, if you won a night egg in the Harvest Quest, and you got your 1000th hedgehog, and you want to sell it. You *could* get a pop-up message to let you know that you won a free egg for your sold pet.
I wanted to show you some screenshots of what it comes up with, so you know what happens when you win a free egg, but it works on the limited edition eggs you can’t even buy anymore – I’ve had free bug eggs, mythical egg, paradise egg, rare summer egg and night eggs back!
I included five screenshots of just some of the times I’ve got free eggs, and it’s all because of the seal. I can’t believe it can give you rare eggs we can’t buy right now – like the night egg (which I won in the Harvest event), bee egg and anti-bee egg.
To maximize my chances of getting free eggs, I have two seal pets so far, and before I sell any pets, I pick up two random pets from my garden, and then put my two seals down, and then go and sell the unwanted pets. Once I’ve sold those pets, I pick the seals back up.
There’s no point keeping the seal down, and using up one of your pet equip slots, until you’re selling pets, so I just place them down, and pick them right up before and after pet sales.
It’s SO fun to get free eggs, especially for the rare eggs we can’t even buy anymore.
This is why I think the seal is the best pet from the 13 new pets in the summer update, and the more seals you equip, the odds stack, so you get a greater chance of getting free eggs back!
