It is time to say goodbye to the Grow A Garden Safari Harvest update, which we’ve had for the past two weeks, and welcome a brand new, fresh update.
Whenever Grow A Garden launches a fresh new update, it’s always more exciting and impressive than the second week version of an update, which rarely impresses.
For this Saturday’s update, it’s the Grow A Garden Smithing Event, which looks very unique, and kinda intriguing…

The new Grow A Garden Smithing Update drops this coming Saturday, and is likely to be another two-week update, taking us to the end of November.
Here is the official announcement for this newest update:
“THIS WEEKEND
Smithing Event + More ⚙️🔨
A new event introducing new rewards, new seeds, pets, QOL, features, and more!“
If you’ve never heard of smithing before, here’s a description thanks to Google; Smithing is the craft of working metal, especially iron, to shape it into useful or decorative objects.
In the image to promote the update, we can see three separate sections within the event display.

In the center, there’s an NPC in front of a “forge”, which is a smithing oven used by a Blacksmith to craft the working metal.
There’s also a bench either side of the NPC and the forge, and we can see a “Craft Cosmetics” work bench, where we’ll use DIY recipes to create cosmetic items, and there’s also a “Craft Gears” work bench, which, yep, you guessed it, where we’ll be able to create gears.
The above image shows the NPC in front of the forge oven, and to the left, there’s an option where we can “skip ingredients”, so it’s going to be a hand-in specific items kinda of update (again), which appears to happen every other two week update – kinda like the reaper event in week 3 of the Halloween update, where we needed specific crops – rather than general mutated crops.

Here is a look at the Craft Gears bench, and this is giving me Fairy update vibes, where we also had different types of work bench for different crafting.
It’ll be interesting to see which gears we’ll be able to craft here, and the ingredients we’ll need for crafting each of these recipes.

This is a look at the Craft Cosmetics bench, where we’ll be able to craft cosmetic items. I’m least looking forward to this, as I’m not fussed by cosmetics, but hopefully there will be cool things we can craft here.

In the announcement for the Grow A Garden Smithing Update, DJ Jhai mentions:
- New rewards
- New seeds
- New pets
- QoL features
New rewards suggests we’ll receive rewards for handing in the ingredients to the Blacksmith in the center of the display – perhaps it’ll be similar to the fountain within the Fairy update, where we had to provide specific fruit/vegetable/flower crops to receive a reward each time.

The new egg dropping in this update, is the Gem Egg, and inside this egg, there are six brand new pets for us to hatch:
- Topaz Snail – 45% chance
- Amethyst Beetle – 32% chance
- Emerald Snake – 14% chance
- Sapphire Macaw – 8.25% chance
- Diamond Panther – 0.5% chance
- Ruby Squid – 0.25% chance
The images in the above photo are placeholders, but the names and chance percentages look to be accurate.
We’re getting two super rare pets in this egg, with the rarest being the Ruby Squid, with 0.25% chance, making it the rarest egg pet since the Kitsune from the Zen update (which was 0.08% chance), and the second ever 0.25% pet, with the first being the Disco Bee from the Bizzy Bee Event.
I can’t wait to see the proper photos of the pets, and find out their abilities. I’m so happy we have super rare pets again, as it makes it more fun to grind for, and the pets are more likely to retain their value as time goes on.
We had so many 1% pets for months, and the value dropped almost instantly, so fingers crossed the Diamond Panther and Ruby Squid actually hold some value.
I’ll update this post whenever more information is revealed before the update officially drops on Saturday.
