When the Grow A Garden summer update dropped, the Lightning Rod was removed from the Gear Shop, and moved to the crafting station, and the new Tanning Mirror was added to the Gear Shop as a brand new tool we can purchase.
But what does the tanning mirror actually do? It has a weird name, but it is actually super helpful for helping you get a brand new mutation. Keep on reading to find out about this brand new tool…

The Grow A Garden Tanning Mirror costs 1 million sheckles, or it can be purchased with Robux, where it is 219 Robux.
It is rated as being a “Mythical” gear item, just like the Lightning Rod was, and is as common as the Lightning Rod was.
It is typically in stock once a day, so I’d recommend signing up to a stock notifier in Discord, to give you pings on your phone, whenever it’s in stock, so you don’t miss out, when it does go on sale.

The description reads: redirects sun beams 10 times before being destroyed.
That’s interesting, because the Lighthning Rod was the same price, but it only works for 3 uses, before being destroyed, so you do get more use from this mirror, than you do the lightning rod.

The Tanning Mirror is an iridescent silvery blue color, and it’s a sheet with three sections, and it’s supposed to look like a tanning mirror.
It’s quite a big size, but the iridescent and shimmery finish, does help to blend into your existing plants, and it’s less of an eyesore, compared to the lightning rod.

When you go to place down your tanning mirror, you get a pop-up message, just like you do with sprinklers, or the lightning rod.
When you try to place your mirror, a big green circle appears, to show you the area the mirror will work, and a message asking if this is where you’d like to place it.
Once you’ve clicked confirm, the mirror gets placed within your garden.

It does blend in quite nicely, and it is designed to reflect the sunbeams from the Grow A Garden Heatwave weather event, which is when bright sun beams hit your garden to turn your fruits into the “sundried” mutation.
The sun beams dance over your garden normally, but the tanning mirror will redirect the sunbeams, to encourage the sun beams to hit specific points in your garden.
If you do manage to get the sundried mutation, it’s a x85 multiplier, so it’s one of the higher mutations/multipliers.
Plus, if you happen to have the scarlet macaw pet in your garden, you can get the paradisal mutation, when you have a fruit that has both the verdant mutation (a mutation you can only get by having a scarlet macaw pet), and the sundried mutation.
It is then automatically converted to the paradisal mutation, which has an amazing golden light beam animation surrounding it.
If you ever see the tanning mirror in stock, make sure you buy one, as it really helps to get the coveted sundried mutation.
