The Garden Games update is the latest update within Grow A Garden, following the one-week New Year update.
It’s a small update, but we do have a new egg, with five carnival-themed pets to potentially hatch. The Performer Seal is one of the five pets you can potentially hatch. Keep on reading to find out what it does…

We can earn free Carnival Eggs, by completing the Garden Games quests. These quests reset every 30 minutes, and give you a list of five quests to complete, every 30 minutes, in return for Carrot Coins.
With the Carrot Coins, you can spin the wheel on the event island, and earn prizes; Carnival Eggs, Carnival Crates or a Kernel Curl Seed.
The Carnival Eggs contain the following pets:
- Unicycle Monkey – 40% chance
- Performer Seal – 29.5% chance
- Bear On Bike – 20% chance
- Show Pony – 10% chance
- Carnival Elephant – 0.5% chance

The Performer Seal is the second most common pet to hatch from the egg, and is just a straight-up reskin of the Seal pet, except, this “carnival” version has a white collar around its neck.
It walks around your farm in the exact same way, crawling along is stomach, using its flippers to walk across the ground.

What Does The Performer Seal Pet Do In Grow A Garden?
The ability on the Performer Seal pet reads:
“Every 9:43 minutes, plays ball with you. Every time you successfully receive the ball, a random plant in your garden grows by 61.69 seconds, or a random pet gets 51.41 XP (max 15).“
You don’t get any warning that the seal is about to throw you a ball, and if you don’t immediately walk up to the moving ball, it means you “failed to receive the ball” and get no benefits whatsoever.
The ball is a red, roundish shape with white stars all over it, and you essentially have to play keepie uppies with it.

Mimic Octopus pets cannot mimic the ability, and cannot spawn the ball in, so you can only use Performer Seals to do the ability. You can use Peacocks to lower the cooldown of the seal, but my Ghostly Spider doesn’t lower the cooldown at all.
If you manage to touch the ball before it lands on the floor, the Performer Seal chooses a random plant in the garden, and grows it by 62 seconds, or it will give one single pet 52 XP.

Why would you bother? 62 seconds of growth is beyond negligible, and 52 XP is such a small amount of XP, you’d be better off using an XP pet like a standard non-RBH Dilo.
Waiting nearly 10 minutes to “play” the ball game, which is actually pretty hard as you need to immediately touch the ball, and if you’re not in the tiny area it appears instantly, you get zero benefit, and have to wait another 10 minutes.
You can potentially do 15 lots of the ball game, if you’re super quick and have an empty garden, without plants/obstacles to jump over, so you could in theory get 15 prizes, but an empty garden means you won’t get any plant growth advances, and still, 52 XP is such a small amount, you’d be better off with a Sea Turtle, standard Dilo or a Nightmare mutated Sea Turtle or Dilo.
While the ability is still disappointing, it is considerably better than the Unicycle Monkey, which literally only makes you walk quicker, when we already have the Raptor and Grey Mouse already doing exactly that.
