We got 12 new pets in the Grow A Garden Smithing Update, and I think the Geode Turtle might be my favorite pet from the whole update.
If you’d like to know why, keep on reading…

What Is The Grow A Garden Geode Turtle?
The Geode Turtle pet is only achievable by completing the Treasure Digging minigame, which, for some reason, the devs decided to hide within the Shop.
You get extra digs, ridiculously, every four hours, providing you’re in-game for those four hours. If you’re offline, you don’t get your digs refreshed, which is just a horrible pay-to-win mechanic, as kids generally get a set amount of screen time a day, and not many will be able to stay in game for four hours consecutively.
Obviously, you can pay for extra digs – it is Grow A Garden after all. If you have any Dig Trinkets left from the Halloween event, you can use them in this event, otherwise, you’ll have to just wait to get extra digs.
When you do have digs, the digging game is identical to Halloween, in that you click in the square, to try and uncover the treasures.
With the Treasure Digging minigame, there are 20 different rewards, and the Geode Turtle is one of four pets you can get within the game:
- Termite
- Geode Turtle
- Trapdoor Spider
- Goblin Miner
The Geode Turtle has a 5.15% percentage chance, with the Goblin Miner being the rarest pet you can get as a reward for completing the game.
The size of the Geode Turtle is chosen at random, just like any reward pets, and it has the prettiest design.
Its body has a mint color, with an iridescent effect, just like the pets inside the Gem Egg. The turtle has a dark green shell, but has these amazing glowing gemstones protruding from its shell – they look SO cool.
I kinda don’t want to make mine Nightmare, as I don’t want to ruin the epic design, and glowing gemstones.

What Does The Grow A Garden Geode Turtle Pet Do?
“Every 5:48 minutes, converts an Advanced Sprinkler into a Geode Sprinkler, which applies the Geode mutation.“
This is such a cool and helpful ability. You simply place an Advanced Sprinkler wherever you need it, within your garden, and the Geode Turtle will convert it into a Geode Sprinkler.
Make sure you put your Advanced Sprinkler down in your garden, when the Geode Turtle is close to doing its ability (check its cooldown timer before placing), to ensure you get a decent amount of time for the Geode Sprinkler.
Advanced Sprinklers are almost always in stock, so it’s a super easy gear item to get hold of, and this cool little turtle gives you the ability of getting an exclusive mutation, which you cannot get anywhere else.

The ability doesn’t scale with age very much at all, so I wouldn’t worry about trying to age it to 100.
When it’s age 100, the ability becomes “every 5:14 minutes”, which is such a negligible difference for 99 extra levels. Although, Nightmare does improve the time a little, with a 100-year-old Geode Turtle with the Nightmare mutation does the ability “every 3:56 minutes”.

Here is a look at what the Geode Turtle does to your Advanced Sprinkler. It completely transforms the black and yellow sprinkler into a glowing purple sprinkler, with green glowing spots on the base, and a cluster of glowing gemstones at the top.
With the Advanced Sprinkler, you get white and pale blue circles spinning around the sprinkler, but after being converted into a Geode Sprinkler, you get wavy blue and green lines surrounding the sprinkler.

Here’s a look at the Geode Sprinkler’s mutation in action. It makes fruits glow the colors of the crystals on the back of the Geode Turtle; red, green and blue, and you get animated little stars that sparkle surrounding the fruit.
The Geode Mutation has a x5 multiplier, so it’s very much worth having, but what makes this pet my favorite from the Smithing update, is that the Geode Sprinkler mutates hundreds of fruit in one go, if you have plants closely packed.
This is going to be SO helpful for the Grow A Garden updates that require mutated fruits for hand-ins, or you need multiple mutations at once – like when you’re completing your Battle Pass.
Advanced Sprinklers are so easy to get, and you can mutate hundreds of plants in one go, so if you can, get yourself a Geode Turtle before the Smithing Update leaves.
