If you love Grow A Garden, you’ve probably been enjoying the latest update; the Prehistoric Dino Update. It’s one of my favorite updates they’ve done, and there are six different dinosaur pets to collect, from the Dinosaur Eggs.
The Pterodactyl pet is one of the three rarest pets you can hatch out of a Dinosaur Egg, and I’m going to give you the low-down on what the pterodactyl actually does…

What Is The Grow A Garden Pterodactyl Pet?
As I mentioned above, you can hatch one of six dinosaur pets out of the new Dinosaur Egg.
To get a dinosaur egg, you’re going to have to do the Prehistoric Daily Quest via Blaire (which resets every 12 hours).
Alternatively, you can donate an unwanted pet (any pet apart from dinosaur pets) to Graham, allowing the DNA Machine to turn the pet into a Dinosaur Egg, or a full-grown dinosaur.
When you place the Dinosaur Egg down, there’s a four-hour wait, although pets like the Bald Eagle, Kiwi, Blood Kiwi or Rooster pet help quicken the hatching time.
Here are the six different dinosaurs:
- Raptor – 35% chance
- Triceratops – 32.5% chance
- Stegosaurus – 28% chance
- Pterodactyl – 3% chance
- Brontosaurus – 1% chance
- T. Rex – 0.5% chance
There’s only a 3% chance you’ll hatch a pterodactyl, and I have actually hatched more brontosaurus pets than I have pterodactyl pets, and I even hatched my T. Rex before the pterodactyl.
The pterodactyl has a vibrant, fun design, and is bright blue all over, with a lighter blue bill and feet, and a yellow crest on its head.
It’s a flying dinosaur pet, and it mostly flies around your farm, but it can walk too. It looks so majestic flying around, and it makes a squawking sound from time-to-time too.

What Are The Benefits Of The Grow A Garden Pterodactyl Pet?
When it comes to what the pterodactyl pet actually does, every 10:58 minutes, it flaps its wings and sends out ripples of wind, causing 3.18 random fruit to get the windstruck mutation, with an 18.49% chance for the twisted mutation to be applied as well.
Plus, it grants players an additional 14.29% increase to player’s jump height.

I think this is one of the best dinosaur pets from the update. The fact it can apply not one, but two mutations in one, but it also makes you jump higher too, giving you three benefits in one.
I love how vibrant the color is, and the flying animation is so cool. I can’t wait to see the pics of what a titanic version of this pet is going to look like flying around. I have hatched a titanic triceratops myself, and it’s amazing, so I think the pterodactyl in a crazy big size would be awesome.
