The rarest eggs within Grow A Garden are the Bug Eggs. Not only are they very rarely stocked, they’re also the most expensive eggs within the game, and by a long way.
There is good reason for that, all of the pets which can hatch out of the bug eggs have amazing benefits, and some of my favorite pets within the game have all come from bug eggs. Keep on reading for the full low-down on the caterpillar pet within Grow A Garden.

How To Get A Grow A Garden Caterpillar Pet In The Game
The Caterpillar pet is only available via the Bug Egg, which is the rarest egg within Grow A Garden, and it only spawns in in around 3% of the egg shop restocks, so it really is ultra-rare.
When it comes to price, each Bug Egg is crazy expensive at 50,000,000 (fifty million sheckles) each, which is considerably more expensive than the other two expensive eggs; the mythical egg and the legendary egg.
When you purchase the bug egg, you are going to hatch one of five insect pets, and those pets are:
- Snail (brown) 40%
- Giant Ant (grey) 30%
- Caterpillar (green) 25%
- Praying Mantis (green) 4%
- Dragonfly (beige and brown) 1%
If you buy bug eggs, you are going to hatch a lot of snails. I am so over seeing snails to be honest, as that’s mostly what you get, but it’s worth it to keep trying, as all five benefits will enhance your game play, a lot.
The Caterpillar has the cutest cheerful design, with a low profile bright green design with a black smiley face, and it crawls along the floor.
It is a nightmare to find the caterpillar once you’ve placed it in your garden, so I’m very relieved we can now feed our pets by clicking the sidebar menu, rather than trying to chase your pets throughout your garden.

The Benefits Of Owning The Grow A Garden Caterpillar Pet
Whilst I do think the caterpillar is a worthwhile pet, I do think it has the weakest benefit from the entire bug egg pets list.
For its benefit, the caterpillar will allow your leafy plants to grow 2x quicker.
So, if you’re wanting your crops to grow a little quicker, you could try equipping the caterpillar within your garden, to see if it will speed up the growth of your leafy plants.

I never see people with the caterpillar pet in their garden, but you often see snails and the other bug egg pets, and I think that’s because the benefit is a little underwhelming.
Plus, it isn’t very descriptive. It doesn’t say how much by, and which plants. I think I’d be more inclined to use another pet, and use a sprinkler instead, as it’ll be more beneficial, and the snail is a lot more helpful in my opinion, as is the giant ant – both of which come in the bug egg.
