We currently have two different Kitsune pets within Grow A Garden. The original Kitsune launched as part of the Zen update, and the Corrupted Kitsune followed up in the Corrupt update, which was part two of the original Zen update.

One of the Kitsune pets is extremely rare, but due to negative feedback, Jandel promised he’d never do another 0.08% chance pet again, but we now have the Corrupted Kitsune, which is a lot easier to obtain, with a 1% chance rather than 0.08%. Keep reading for a complete comparison between the two Kitsune pets.

Grow A Garden Kitsune Nine-Tailed Fox Pet
It all started with the original Kitsune pet. This red and white colored nine-tailed fox is one of the six pets you can hatch from a Zen Egg.
The Zen Eggs were never available within the Grow A Garden “Shop” as a Premium version, but you could purchase Zen Eggs from the Tanuki’s Zen Shop on the event display, for 30 Chi Points or 149 Robux.
We earn Chi Points by giving the Tanuki our fruits that have been mutated with the Tranquil mutation, but you can also earn free Zen Eggs by giving the Zen Channeller dude your Tranquil fruits, and in return, he’ll give you a mix of rewards like crates, Seed Packs and Zen Eggs.
Inside the Zen Eggs, there will be one of the following six pets:
- Shibu Inu – 40% chance
- Nihonzaru – 31% chance
- Tanuki – 20.82% chance
- Tanchozuru – 4.6% chance
- Kappa – 3.5% chance
- Kitsune – 0.08% chance
We have never had a 0.08% chance pet before. Until now, the rarest pet was the Disco Bee, which was 0.25%.
Usually, Grow A Garden sticks with a 1% chance for the rarest pet inside eggs (like the Dragonfly or the Mimic Octopus), which is why people were so gutted about a 0.08% chance for the Kitsune.

What Does The Kitsune Pet Do?
Every 22:13 minutes, it goes to another player’s garden and chooses a random crop, it mutates that crop with the exclusive Chakra mutation (a x15 multiplier), then steals (duplicates) and gives the crop to you. Very rare chance to mutate the crops with the Foxfire Chakra mutation (x90 multiplier) mutation instead.
It’s a completely unique pet in that it benefits both the owner of the Kitsune, but also the other player within your server, as the player will keep their fruit, and that fruit will be given either the Chakra mutation or the Foxfire Chakra mutation.
When you own raccoons, and play in public servers, so often players will leave if they see a raccoon strolling towards their garden, as they (wrongly) assume that the raccoon will take their crop.
However, they don’t, they duplicate it, but with the Kitsune, other players will actually want the Kitsune to visit their garden, because they’re going to gain the mutation on one of their crops.

Grow A Garden Corrupted Kitsune Nine-Tailed Fox Pet
The Grow A Garden Corrupted Kitsune Pet is unique to the original Kitsune, because it isn’t available via an egg.
For the first time ever, Grow A Garden launched new chests, which combine both seeds and pets, which you spin, and you can land on three different seeds, and three different pets.
The Kitsune Chests include the following seeds and pets:
- Dezen Seed – 34% chance
- Maneki-Neko Pet – 34% chance
- Lucky Bamboo Seed – 14.5% chance
- Kodama Pet – 14.5% chance
- Tranquil Bloom Seed – 1% chance
- Corrupted Kitsune – 1% chance
You can purchase the Kitsune Chests via the Grow A Garden Shop with Robux, or you can earn the chests for free, by completing the monotonous Kitsune Quest, by handing him five Corrupt fruits and five Tranquil fruits, and you’ll earn one single Kitsune Chest.

What Does The Corrupted Kitsune Pet Do?
Every 20:55 minutes, it launches a cursed energy at 9 different different fruits on your farm. Each fruit has 20.23% chance to mutate that fruit with the Corrupt Chakra mutation, and a very rare chance to mutate the fruit with the Corrupt Foxfire Chakra.
The Corrupted Kitsune doesn’t do any stealing at all, which disappointed players that haven’t been able to hatch an original Kitsune yet.
The Corrupt Chakra has a mutation multiplier of x15 and the Corrupt Foxfire Chakra mutation has a mutation multiplier of x90 – and actually, that’s the same multiplier (x90) as the Foxfire Chakra that the original Kitsune pet can do, so it’s good that they have the same multipliers.
Grow A Garden Kitsune Pet Vs Corrupted Kitsune Pet – Which Is Best?
When talking about which of the two Kitsunes are the better pet, it’s important to consider the rarity.
The 0.08% chance of the Kitsune, means, on average, you’d need to open 1250 Zen Eggs to hatch one Kitsune Pet – yes, really.
The 1% chance of the Corrupted Kitsune, means, on average, you’d need to open 100 Kitsune Chests to get one Corrupted Kitsune.
It’s crazy how different the odds are, but I have so far hatched one original Kitsune, and got 8 Corrupted Kitsunes from the chests, because the odds are so, so much better.
Corrupted Kitsunes are considerably easier to get – and I’ve found it much easier to get the Corrupted Kitsunes than I have the Tranquil Bloom seeds, even though they both have the 1% chance, as it’s all down to luck.

Kitsune Vs Corrupted Kitsune Comparison
For the ability comparison, both versions of the Kitsune do their benefit at around the 20 to 21 minutes point, so there’s no difference in how quickly they perform their ability.
The Kitsune will go to another player’s farm, and duplicate a crop from their garden, and bring it back to you, but that crop will be given either the Chakra mutation or the Foxfire Chakra mutation.
Your Kitsune could bring you a blueberry or carrot, but it obviously has the chance to bring you crazy valuable crops like Bone Blossoms or Candy Blossoms too, and that crop it gives you, will be guaranteed to be mutated.
To get the full benefit of the original Kitsune, you’re going to need to be playing in public servers, otherwise the Kitsune will literally do nothing in your garden.
With the Corrupted Kitsune, you don’t need to play in public servers because its ability is confined to your garden, and it doesn’t need other players in the server for you to gain from the ability, and for me, I think that is what makes the Corrupted Kitsune so brilliant.
To recap, the mutation multipliers for the two pets are:
- Kitsune: Chakra Mutation x15 & Foxfire Chakra Mutation x90
- Corrupted Kitsune: Corrupt Chakra x15 & Corrupt Foxfire Mutation x90
There is no difference in the mutation multipliers between the two pets, so there isn’t a better pet when it comes to the mutations.
If you play in private servers only, to avoid stealing, I genuinely believe the Corrupted Kitsune is a better pet, as it will mutate anything from 1 to 9 fruits from the “cursed energy” it fires at 9 fruits in your garden at once.
If you have multiplier Corrupted Kitsunes, that’s a massive amount of fruits that can potentially gain the Corrupt Chakra or Corrupt Foxfire mutations every 21 minutes.
I actually think the Corrupted Kitsune is the better pet from the two, especially if you want your crops to be mutated within your garden.
The original Kitsune will mutate a picked crop, and you won’t benefit within your garden, while the Corrupted Kitsune will benefit your garden, your crops and your sheckles, so I 100% believe the Corrupted Kitsune is the better of the two pets.
