We have two different hedgehogs within the game, and the original hedgehog is one of the most common pets to get within Grow A Garden, because Wise Old Owl will gift you a hedgehog when you do the Lunar Glow Event, but you also get them very frequently in eggs.

What Is The Grow A Garden Hedgehog Pet?
There are two hedgehogs within the game. There’s the original hedgehog, and also the Blood Hedgehog, which is a limited edition pet, and you can only purchase it via the Blood Moon shop, when it’s available.
For the purpose of this post, I’m going to just focus on the original hedgehog.
It’s an adorable hedgehog design, with a beige body and brown spines.
If you decide to start the Lunar Glow Event, and achieve 10 points within the event, Wise Old Owl will gift you a hedgehog for a start.
Plus, you can actually find the Hedgehog inside the Night Eggs, alongside five other pets:
- Hedgehog 40%
- Mole 22%
- Frog 14%
- Echo Frog 10%
- Night Owl 4%
- Raccoon 1%
If you’ve ever done the Lunar Glow event until the end, you’ll have received a lot of Night Eggs as reward, and I can guarantee that you’ll have opened many hedgehogs. They are insanely common, and you’ll probably get a little sick of seeing them all the time.

Benefits Of Owning The Grow A Garden Hedgehog
The benefit of owning a hedgehog is a little underwhelming, as it will give your prickly fruits in your garden a 1.5x size increase.
So, that means your dragon fruits or cactus fruits will increase in size by 1.5x, but seeing as dragon fruits and cactus fruits don’t have a great resell value, it’s not the best pet and reward we have in the game.

It is certainly very cute, and you can end up opening some massive hedgehogs in your night eggs, but for me, there are many more impressive pets within the Grow A Garden pet collection.
They sell for an okay amount via Raphael too, so if you do get lumbered with a lot of them, you can always sell them, so they don’t take up your precious inventory slots.
