Grow A Garden changes up their event every two weeks, and more often than not, we get an event where we need to hand over specific fruit/vegetables/flowers in exchange for rewards.
The crops we have to hand in, depend on what the event is. For example, for the Halloween event, we had to hand over Halloween crops to the Ancient Jack-O-Lantern, but more frequently, we have to hand in Seed Shop plants.
There are so many different pets within the game, but there are a type of pet, that can duplicate fruits when you harvest them, and I’ve discovered the best pet for duplicating fruits for any type of event.

For the Grow A Garden Ghoul Garden Halloween event, I utilized Giant Ants, using eight Giant Ants, all mutated with Nightmare, to duplicate as many fruits as possible.
They aren’t bad, with Nightmare, but Cape Buffalo are actually better in my opinion.
With Giant Ants, a 2kg at hatch, with Nightmare, at age 100, gives you a 14.2% chance harvested fruit duplicate with a 9.1% extra chance for Candy type fruit to duplicate.

With Cape Buffalo, which we can still obtain from the Safari Merchant, we can use Barn Owls to increase the size of our Cape Buffalo, so you can end up with semi-huge Cape Buffalos, which is a lot easier than trying to hatch huge Giant Ants from Bug Eggs.
For this example, I’m going to use a pretty average Cape Buffalo, with a weight of 2.61kg, and with Nightmare and being age 100 (so age 26.09kg), the benefit reads:
16.11% chance harvested fruit duplicates! Rarer crops have lower chance to duplicate. 8.71% extra chance for Safari type fruit to duplicate!
With eight Cape Buffalo, all around that weight (or even bigger), you’re getting at least 16.11% chance multiplied by 8, and that works out at 128.88% chance of fruit duplicating – so you’re guaranteed that every single fruit/vegetable/flower you harvest is 100% duplicated.
This is SO incredibly helpful for events like the current trader event, where we need 86 Buttercups, which are hard to find in stock anyway, but with my army of Cape Buffalo, I only need to plant 43 Buttercups, because they’re all 100% duplicated.

Whilst the stats between Nightmare Giant Ants and Nightmare Cape Buffalo don’t differ too much, the second line is what makes the buffalo more powerful.
Giant Ants give you a 9.1% extra chance for “Candy” type fruits to duplicate, and Cape Buffalo give you a 8.71% extra chance for Safari type fruit to duplicate.
When you look at your Garden Guide, under plants, and then type in “candy”, there are a very limited list of candy type fruits:
- Chocolate Carrot
- Candy Cornflower
- Chicken Feed
- Easter Egg
- Sugarglaze
- Candy Blossom
- Maple Resin
- Candy Sunflower
- Red Lollipop
- Blue Lollipop
However, when you look at the “safari” type plants in the Garden Guide, there’s a crazy long list:
- Crown Of Thorns
- Daisy
- Orange Delight
- Bamboo Tree
- Amberfruit Shrub
- Bamboo
- Banana
- Protea
- Pyracantha
- Speargrass
- Amber Spine
- Auburn Pine
- Cactus
- Castor Bean
- Coconut
- Knipofia
- Mango
- Pineapple
- Prickly pear
- Baobab
- Firewell
- Golden Peach
- Java Banana
- Elephant Ears
- Mangrove
- Peacock Tail
- Zebrazinkle

Plus, many of the fruits in the “safari” section are from the Seed Shop all year-round, so that’s what makes the Cape Buffalo so much better for duplicating harvested fruit.
It means you need less Cape Buffalo for duplicating fruit, and you can even use one good sized Nightmare Cape Buffalo, with seven Ruby Squids, and the Ruby Squids will copy the harvesting ability of the Cape Buffalo, so you don’t need to wait until you have 8 x Cape Buffalo to enjoy the duplicated fruit benefits.
