I love it whenever we get a new mutation pet, especially since the introduction of the Season Pass, as it makes it so much quicker to farm mutations on fruits.
If, like me, you’re trying to cross off all of the different mutations within your Garden Guide, and the Blizzard mutation was added to the Garden Guide as part of week three of the Christmas Update, but how do you get it?

The Christmas Egg was introduced as part of the second week of the Christmas Update, with the Santa’s Surprise Present seed/egg chest in week one, the Christmas Egg in week two, and the Winter Egg in week three.
Inside the Christmas Egg, there are the following winter themed pets:
- Turtle Dove: 50% chance
- Reindeer: 30% chance
- Nutcracker: 18.5% chance
- Yeti: 1% chance
- Ice Golem: 0.5% chance
The Yeti pet is the 1% chance pet inside the Christmas Egg, and as far as 1% Divine pets, it doesn’t do very much.

Here is the ability of the Yeti pet:
“Every 14:48m devours a fruit with at least 16 mutations to summon the Yeti Night weather! Ignores favorited fruit!“
So, every 15 minutes, the Yeti “eats” a fruit from your garden, at random, providing the fruit has at least 16 different mutations on it.

To farm 16 mutations as quick as possible, I use a 15 sec HyperHunger Mimic Octopus and these mutation pets:
- Kappa
- Badger
- Trapdoor Spider
- Spriggan
- Dark Spriggan
- Wolf
- Phoenix
- New Year’s Dragon
- Geode Turtle (you’ll need an Advanced Sprinkler placed near your crops you want to mutate)
- Tiger (to swap the mutations)
- T-Rex (to spread the mutations)

The Yeti then throws its head back and arches its back and growls, and you get the following message on the screen, to let you know that the Yeti has summoned the Yeti Night Weather Event – which you cannot trigger any other way.
It tells you to “cut down” dead trees for a chance at the Blizzard and Snowy mutations.

The sky becomes very dark, and black dead trees appear scattered across the whole map, and you have to walk up to the dead trees, and press and hold when standing in front of the tree, and a chainsaw appears to “cut” the tree, and once the tree disappears, you get a pop-up message to tell you that you’ve achieved a mutation.

With each tree you cut down, you will get one of three messages. One message will tell you, you got one mutation (Snowy or Blizzard), one message will tell you, you got two mutations, and one message will tell you, you got three mutations.

Now, when you cut down a tree, the Yeti will mutate a fruit in your garden, at random with the Snowy mutation or the Blizzard mutation.
There is no other way to obtain the Blizzard mutation; it is exclusive to the Yeti pet.
I have tried the Yeti Night Weather event, and it is broken, just like the New Year’s Chimp Pet – which cannot apply the Clockwork mutation, as it wasn’t added to the game files (see the error message here).
In total, I’ve triggered the Yeti Night Weather event seven separate times, over multiple days, and not once has my Yeti applied the Blizzard mutation.
It does not apply the Blizzard mutation at all. The Yeti will apply the Snowy mutation and/or the Glacial mutation, but never the Blizzard mutation.
So many people have complained about this in the official Grow A Garden Discord, and just like the missing Clockwork mutation, the devs have just ignored the many complaints of the missing mutations (Clockwork and Blizzard).
You’d forgive them for forgetting the Clockwork mutation, as that update dropped between Christmas and New Year, and the devs are probably on holiday, and not working on the game like normal.
However, the Yeti dropped on the 13th of December, and it’s over three weeks, and still, they haven’t remedied this issue, so the Yeti (which is a 1% Divine pet) is entirely useless, because it cannot apply the promised Blizzard mutation.
