The Essie Moonlight Ballet Collection 2026 is different to your average nail polish collection. Usually for Essie collections, we see all brand new nail polish shades, but this specific collection features four brand new limited edition shades, but also three existing timeless shades.
I think Essie fans might prefer it when a collection features all brand-new shades, as they’ve probably already tried the three existing shades. However, those that are newer to Essie, and their collections, get the opportunity to try some iconic shades that have stood the test of time without being discontinued.

While I think it would’ve been fun for the Essie Moonlight Ballet Collection 2026 to feature all new shades, the existing shades they’re repromoting within the collection do make sense for the theme of the collection.
Ballet Slippers couldn’t be more aptly named for a start, and it is one of the brand’s most iconic shades favored by brides (even Meghan Markle wore it on her wedding day).
Licorice is the most perfect black creme you’ll find within the Essie shade line-up, which complements the “Moonlight Ballet” theme of the collection. Whereas Muchi, Muchi is the perfect ballet tutu pink.
I think my favorite shade would have to be Prima Plum, as I’m a sucker for a duochrome, but they’re all super pretty shades, and I love the theme for this collection.
