If you love a cushion foundation, Essence has launched a brand new cushion foundation with a soft, natural silky finish.
The Essence Silky Cushion Foundation is a super affordable cushion foundation formula, priced under £5/€5.
The Essence Silky Cushion Foundation gives you effortlessly polished skin, with a soft, natural silky finish.
This cushion foundation comes in a matte, nude pink rounded compact, with a teardrop shaped puff for application under the lid. The cushion foundation well is kept airtight with an inner lid, where the puff sits.

Once you flip up the internal lid, the cushion features an “e” design within the cushion’s foam, and you get 12g of product for £4.99 / €4.99.
Essence describes the formula as offering medium, buildable coverage for a smooth, even-looking result.
It has a lightweight texture on your skin, which feels breathable, while the added glycerin adds a comfortable touch during wear.
Essence don’t always do the most extensive of shade ranges, but the Essence Silky Cushion Foundation has an impressive (for Essence) 15 shades.
Cushion foundations don’t tend to have the biggest shade ranges either, so I think 15 shades isn’t bad for an Essence cushion foundation.

Here are the 15 shades in the Essence Silky Cushion Foundation:
- 50 – lightest skin with cool undertone
- 100 – lightest to fair skin with a neutral undertone
- 110 – lightest to fair skin with a warm undertone
- 115 – fair skin with a neutral undertone
- 120 – fair skin with a warm undertone
- 155 – light medium skin with a warm undertone
- 158 – light medium skin with cool and neutral undertones
- 165 – light medium skin with warm and neutral undertones
- 168 – medium skin with warm and neutral undertones
- 170 – medium skin with cool and neutral undertones
- 178 – medium to medium dark skin with a neutral undertone
- 195 – medium dark skin with a warm undertone
- 205 – medium dark to dark skin with warm and neutral undertones
- 230 – dark skin with a warm undertone
- 310 – deep dark skin with a warm undertone
I think the Silky Cushion Foundation looks beautiful on the Essence models, with a subtle glow.
It’s interesting that it claims to offer medium coverage, as cushion foundations tend to be on the sheerer side of coverage, but it claims to be buildable too with a lightweight and breathable texture on the skin.
