The Grow A Garden New Year Update is severely lacking in, well, everything, but the one good thing from the event is the Dragon’s Firework.
With this New Year event, we literally only have an event shop, and it stocks every ten minutes, although, it originally restocked every hours, until the devs made an update to the game following many, many complaints in the official Discord.
There are seven different items inside the New Year’s Shop, and one of those items is the new Dragon’s Firework.

The Dragon’s Firework is a gear item you can buy from the New Year’s Event Shop, which restocks every 10 minutes.
It has a Mythical rarity, and it can stock in amounts of 1 to 4, with a 50% chance of being in stock.
When you do find one in stock, it sells for 100,000 sheckles, which is an amazing price considering how OP this gear item is.
The New Year’s Shop is going away this coming Saturday, so you will no longer be able to purchase the fireworks via the shop, but thanks to a new pet, there is a method we can still obtain Dragon’s Fireworks once the event leaves completely.

Inside the New Year’s Egg, the rarest pet is the New Year’s Dragon, and the ability of the dragon is:
“Every 17:33m breathes fireworks on 20 – 26 random fruits in your garden and mutates them with Firework mutation!
Every 11:42m, consumes 100 fruit with the Firework mutation to give you the Dragon’s Firework Gear which has positive bonuses when used! Cannot be mimicked or refreshed.“
So, the New Year Dragon can give you a single Dragon’s Firework every 11.42 minutes, but it has to consume 100 fruit with the Firework mutation to do that, which is going to be such a hassle.
Only the New Year’s Dragon or Dragon’s Firework can apply that mutation, and 100 fruit is a crazy amount of fruit for the Dragon to consume for one firework.
I’d recommend farming these fireworks via the shop from now until the event leaves so you can stock up on them, without having to use the dragon to give you them, as the New Year’s Dragon is a 0.25% pet, so it’s not the easiest to hatch either.
What Does The Dragon’s Firework Give You?
To use the firework, you equip it in your hand, and just click anywhere on the screen.
The firework will fly into the air, and will head in multiple directions:
- Towards your garden to mutate your fruits with either the Firework or Fiery mutation (if you get both mutations on the same fruit, you can end up getting the rare Fierywork combined mutation)
- Towards the Egg Shop to stock an egg at random
- Towards the Gear Shop to stock a gear item at random
- Towards the Seed Shop to stock a seed at random

Can The Dragon’s Firework Restock The Firework Fern In Grow A Garden?
YES! It took me around 50 Dragon’s Fireworks for it to happen, but yes, the firework can restock ANY seed within the seed shop.
It usually restocks a single daffodil, a single cactus or a single bamboo, but it restocked the Firework Fern seed, and if you look at my screenshot below, I only had 17 seconds to purchase the seed before it would have disappeared.
My biggest advice is to only use the Dragon’s Fireworks when you have at least two minutes left before the Seed and Gear shops restock, incase something OP restocks, and you’re not able to purchase it in time.
I didn’t have enough time to equip my one Sand Snake and 7 x Ruby Squids to try and get a free duplicate seed as I only had 17 seconds left on the clock, and it would’ve been amazing to get an extra free Firework Fern Seed.

The Firework Fern Seed costs 1 trillion sheckles, and it is a limited seed, which I’m 99% sure is going to be leaving on Saturday, once the New Year’s update leaves the game.
I missed the natural stocks of the Firework Fern (there have been 3 so far), so I feel very lucky that the Dragon’s Firework was able to stock it for me, as I didn’t want to have to waste my Trade Tokens to buy it.
Now I have the Firework Fern, I am going to save every single Dragon’s Firework I buy before Saturday’s new update, to hopefully stock future limited edition Transcendent seeds, but if you’re yet to get the Firework Fern for yourself, try the Dragon’s Firework with 1 x Chimera or 1 x Sand Snake (with 7 x Ruby Squids if you don’t have 8 Chimera/Sand Snakes), so you’re ready to purchase any rare Seeds or Gears, and potentially get free extras.
