The Grow A Garden Pet Mutations update launched this past Saturday, which saw the introduction of a brand new pet mutations machine.
We can put our age 50 (or level 50) pets into the machine, pay 500 million sheckles, wait one hour, and then collect our mutated pet.
There are twelve different mutations you can get, and they’re given to you at random, with each of the twelve mutations having different chance percentages, with some being much more common than others.
Ever since I hatched my T Rex pet, it’s been equipped in my garden, and it finally reached level 50, and I couldn’t wait to throw it into the mutation machine, to see which mutation it got…

This is what my T-Rex pet looked like before I put it into the Mutation Machine.
At age/level 50, it weighed 8.67kg, and it’s a really decent size, and the ability was insane by the time it was level 50, so I was really nervous to put it into the machine, incase I ended up with one of the more disappointing mutations.

At age 50, the ability was:
“Every 16:37 minutes, it devours a random mutation from your garden, then roars, spreading that mutation to 5.03 other random fruits in your garden.”
When I first got the T-Rex, it spread the mutation to just 3 fruits, so it was kinda nerve wracking putting the pet into the Pet Mutation Machine, incase I ended up ruining the amazing ability of the pet, or it ended up looking awful.

The 12 different mutations you can get are:
- Shiny 32.15%
- Inverted 16.08%
- Windy 9.65%
- Frozen 9.65%
- Golden 6.43%
- Tiny 6.43%
- Mega 6.43%
- Radiant 3.22%
- Shocked 3.22%
- Rainbow 3.22%
- Ascended 0.32%
I ended up getting the Inverted mutation, and when I saw the pop-up message on the screen, to say it was inverted, I was a little disappointed, as it’s almost the most common mutation within the game.

However, when I saw the T-Rex in the inverted color state, I fell in love. It’s the most amazing bright purple color, with dark purple claws on its feet, and glowing white neon eyes.
When the T Rex is in its normal design, it’s a deep green color, and wow is it hard to try and track it down when you have 7 or 8 pets equipped, as it ends up blending into every plant or tree you have in your garden.
The purple color of the inverted version makes the T Rex really stand out, and the glowing eyes look so, so cool.
When it comes to the new ability, thanks to the Inverted mutation, it now reads:
“Every 20:03 minutes, it devours a random mutation from your garden, then roars, spreading that mutation to 3.35 other random fruits in your garden. Inverted: Provides an additional 30% boost to the pet’s XP per second.”
I know it’s not all about the color and aesthetics, but the purple color just looks amazing, so although it’s one off from being the most common mutation (which is “Shiny”), I love the design, and can’t wait to age it back upto 50, so I can have another go at getting one of the other mutations.
The ability is way, way worse after using the machine (mutating just 3 fruit each time, instead of 7), but the XP boost of 30% helps to age it up quickly. In just a few hours, it was back up to age 20, which is crazy, and hopefully I won’t have long to wait, before I can get it back to level 50.
